Olympic Site Visit 2012
Last year we ran four very successful trips to visit the Olympic sites in and around Stratford and although we couldn’t go into the stadia we heard lots of facts and information from our guide while we watched what was going on within the building site below our raised viewpoint.
The games are getting closer and as so many members have said they missed out on the first set of trips, we’ve arranged another two.
Wednesday 14th and Thursday 22nd March are the two dates with a third yet to be confirmed. If everyone can be as flexible as possible it will help in determining the best routes through the county collecting everyone on the way.
The visit will include a coffee stop at the Thames Barrier, walking trip to see the Olympic Stadium and look over the Olympic Village. A tour of Stratford viewing various other sports venues will follow, before heading to Greenwich for a lunch stop near where the equestrian events will take place. Further investigation of other sites of interest will follow before we end up at the Prospect of Whitby, the oldest riverside pub in London for a cup of tea before we make our way home.
Ian, our guide is a fount of knowledge, so a great day is promised.
Cost is £23 for members and £25 for non-members. Please indicate on the back page your preferred date of travel and whether or not you could do either date.
