Funding for adult education has depleted what courses are on offer for those who like to challenge themselves throughout their lives.
“Lifelong Learning” was one of the keys to getting a grant at one time, but we are learning all the time and there are opportunities whether a course is supported by a grant or totally self-funded by the students.
When City and Guilds announced that they would no longer recognise smaller providers, our tutors that had been delivering C&G courses in Patchwork & Quilting and Machine Embroidery decided to go it alone as Creative Stitch.
With support and finance from Suffolk East federation, new equivalent courses were developed and we are delighted that despite the challenges of the last 18 months, students are graduating this year after two years’ creative work and study.
We took over Needham Market Community Centre for the weekend of 24th and 25th July for our Graduate Show. The designs on show were incredible and the workmanship so skilled! I hope some of you managed to see it.
We are enormously proud of our students. A huge thank you must go to our tutors, Mary McIntosh, Diane Tompkins and Tina Finbow who is retiring this year. The challenge of tutoring via zoom has been huge and we appreciate the dedication shown by all of them.
