We have all missed going along to our WI meetings I’m sure, not just for the socialising, but for the speakers and their knowledge too.
A list of speakers who are willing to offer their talks via Zoom has gone out to all WI secretaries, but we know not all WIs are able to set up meetings in this way, so we have planned a short season of talks that anyone can book for. We tested a couple during July which were offered just by email, so hopefully all the early hiccups will have been ironed out.
You need to book by emailing email@example.com giving your name and WI and which sessions you would like to “attend”. When we confirm we will ask for direct payment and you will receive the invitation to join the meeting on the day.
You will need to download the free Zoom app to your computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone. Unless there is a Q&A session, you will be muted so there is no background noise. The Federation will be hosting the sessions through our Zoom account.
Cost for each session is £4 and will last around an hour.
There is no substitute for getting together, enjoying coffee and some cake at our own WI, but until we can return to what we consider normal, this might be a good alternative. Who knows, if these prove successful it might be something we can offer generally for those who can’t get to our larger Federation meetings.
