Wolsey Women WI - Help the Hedgehog - - Be more wildlife friendly

“Hedgehog numbers plummet by half in UK countryside since 2000!” * This disturbing headline hit the papers in 2018. But what can we do to help?

Come along to find out how we can all do our bit to help the wildlife we live alongside.

Our GUEST SPEAKER will be Ali North, Hedgehog Officer for Suffolk Wildlife Trust, who’ll be helping us to understand the habits and ecology of this well-loved species, highlighting the threats they face, and showing us ways in which we can all help hedgehogs in our own gardens and neighbourhoods.

To celebrate all things hedgehog at the meeting, we’ll be running a slightly different HEDGEHOG RAFFLE.
To enter, you need to BRING A HEDGEHOG FRIEND and a £1 COIN. The hedgehog could be one you’ve made or one you have at home (doorstop? cushion?) perhaps a card or photo, or even an edible one. The coin will buy your hedgehog a raffle ticket, and at the end of the night – after a Team Hedgehog photo call – we’ll draw the raffle. If your hedgehog wins, then you win our special hedgehog prize. All hedgehogs will then go home safely with their owner at the end of the night.

If there’s time, we’ve also got a quick hedgehog-themed craft that you might like to have a go at while you’re having a cuppa. You’ll need to bring an unwanted paperback book (80 pages-plus) – be sure you don’t want to read it afterwards.

If you’re not a member, and would like to come along as a visitor, you’d be very welcome – as well as your hedgehog friend!
Please let us know if you’d like to come along (via this FB page) so we can send you details of how to get into the venue.
A £5 non-member/visitor’s fee applies.
