SUFFOLK EAST WI CAMERA CLUB – AGM 2024
Camera Club members gathered for their AGM at the Wickham Market Village Hall, on Thursday 18th April 2024. We chatted over tea, coffee and biscuits while viewing a colourful exhibition of all the photos entered for the annual competition.
The results were keenly awaited while Jane Connell-Smith (Chair) opened the meeting by welcoming the members and special guest, SEFWI Vice Chair Anita Scruby. Jane gave her report of our activities for the year, which included a visit to Helmingham Hall and an interesting Autumn meeting with photographer Taz Brotherton. After annual reports and election of the committee, it was time for a lunch break and a welcoming chat to our friendly judge, Simon Page, who is a very talented amateur photographer himself, having photos published regularly in the local press. Simon displayed some of his best photos on the screen then gave an excellent presentation of this year’s Club competition results, along with tips and advice on improving our picture taking.
The winners for each of the 8 categories were announced (See below) and certificates and trophies awarded. Special congratulations were given to Jane Connell-Smith who again took the Best Overall Print trophy for her photo of ‘Sunset’, in the class of Light in the Landscape.
Our next Club Outing is to Thorpeness, planned for Thursday 13th June and the next Autumn meeting is on Thursday 10th October 2024 at Wickham Market Village Hall, where we look forward to welcoming professional wildlife photographer Kevin Sawford. The 8 subjects for next year’s competition have been decided by the members and for details of this or more information about joining the WI Camera Club, please contact Jean Scruby (Secretary) on 01206 299546, email [email protected], or view Camera Club page on the SEFWI website or Facebook.
