Join tutors Gwyneth Harris & Christine Lindsay to try this traditional craft.
Goldwork dates to the 10th century and is mainly associated with the church and seen on altar apparel and vestments. Through the years heraldry, royalty, military, and trades unions have used goldwork. Today solid gold and silver are replaced with plated wires and coloured threads.
With these and traditional methods we shall create a picture of a butterfly which you can frame or mount in a card to give to a loved one. Wire, threads, needles, and silk backing provided.
Bring a 6″ embroidery hoop with the inside ring wrapped in cotton tape, sharp embroidery scissors, a thimble if you use one and your spectacles.
Tea and coffee are provided, bring a packed lunch and your favourite mug.
Allocation date 19th March.
